On May 16 and 17, 2020, the inaugural online WOW – Women of the World Festival, in collaboration with BBC Arts’ Culture in Quarantine initiative, brought together a diverse array of speakers and performers to celebrate and discuss issues affecting women and girls globally. Among the notable contributors was writer and broadcaster Afua Hirsch, who shared her insights on the power dynamics of race, class, and gender, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her participation highlighted the festival’s commitment to addressing pressing social issues and amplifying diverse voices.
