Afua is the guest of the 2026 Benjamin Zephaniah Community Lecture, an annual series organised by the University of Birmingham’s Race Equality Network to celebrate the life and work of Benjamin Zephaniah. Afua will be in conversation, followed by an audience Q&A.

The lecture takes place on Wednesday 4 November at the Bramall Music Building on the University’s Edgbaston campus, delivered in partnership with the College of Arts and Law EDI team. It is the second in the series, following the inaugural lecture by George the Poet in October 2025. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start, with a small artisan market of local booksellers, artists and organisations open from 5pm.
