Afua appeared twice at the 15th Shoreham Wordfest. In the evening she was in conversation with Margaretta Jolly, Professor in Cultural Studies at the University of Sussex, about her book Decolonising My Body, which charts her year-long journey of radical unlearning. Earlier that day, she interviewed award-winning journalist and broadcaster Robin Lustig, who presented The World Tonight on BBC Radio 4, about his book And The Cello Came Too.

Both events took place at Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, as part of the festival’s 2026 programme, themed Time and Tide.
